How to compare them on your own numbers
- Find your own rate on each site: Airbnb shows its fee on each reservation and in your earnings report, Vrbo on the fee page in your account, and Booking.com in your agreement and the extranet.
- Put one typical stay, cleaning fee included, into the calculator below.
- Remember what each fee is charged on: Vrbo charges on the rental amount plus the fees you charge guests, such as cleaning, and Airbnb's split fee is charged the same way. Neither charges on taxes.
- Allow for when you pay: Airbnb and Vrbo take their fee from your payout, while Booking.com sends a commission invoice each month for stays that ended the month before.
- Add direct bookings for guests who find you on your own channels, where the cost is a card fee rather than a commission.

| Booking.com | 10% to 25%, set by property type and location | Your agreement sets which amounts count | Invoiced monthly after checkout |
| Direct through StayPerk | 1% plus the card fee, or nothing if you collect payment yourself | The stay price | Taken before Stripe pays you |

What StayPerk does here
StayPerk isn't a booking site and doesn't change what Airbnb, Vrbo or Booking.com charge. It shows all three calendars in one place, free, and gives you a booking page for guests who come to you directly.
On that page a stay paid online costs 1% plus the card fee, and nothing when you collect payment yourself.
Frequently asked questions
Which booking site is cheapest for hosts?
On the headline rate, Vrbo's 12% is below Airbnb's 15.5%, but Vrbo guests also pay a service fee, which can affect how often you are booked. Booking.com depends on your agreement. Compare on a real stay with the calculator.
Does Airbnb still have the split fee?
It is being phased out. Hosts still on it pay about 3% and the guest pays a separate fee. Airbnb says that once a host is switched to the single fee, they can't go back.
Why does Booking.com charge me after the stay?
Booking.com invoices commission once a month for reservations whose guests left the month before, unless your agreement says otherwise, so you pay it separately rather than from a payout.
