- Welcome books after Airbnb's 2026 rules
Can I still use a printed welcome book and signs after Airbnb's November 20, 2026 rules?
Yes, as long as they inform guests rather than add requirements: for stays booked from November 20, 2026, Airbnb's policy bars new rules or requests after booking, including on signs in the home. Keep Wi-Fi, directions and local tips in your book, and make sure every rule or request it mentions is already in your Airbnb listing.

How to bring your book and signs in line
- Go through your welcome book, signs and saved messages and mark every sentence that tells guests to do something.
- Paste those sentences into the free checker below. It marks fines, cleaner-style chores and other wording Airbnb's policy rules out.
- Put each rule or request guests must know into the rules section of your Airbnb listing first, worded the way the listing shows it.
- In the book, keep the same wording as the listing, for example: Quiet hours are 10 pm to 8 am, as in our listing.
- Reprint any sign that adds something new, and keep the signs that only help: Wi-Fi, appliance instructions, directions and where the bins go.
Keep, move to the listing, or remove
| Example | What to do | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Wi-Fi name and password, how to use the heating or hot tub | Keep | Information, not a requirement |
| Directions, parking spot, check-in steps | Keep, matching the listing | Rules must be consistent with what the listing says |
| Quiet hours, no parties, pets, smoking | Put in the listing first, then repeat it word for word | Rules must be disclosed in the listing before booking |
| Strip the beds, run the dishwasher, take the trash off site | Remove, or ask for a light task in the listing | Airbnb generally rules out tasks that take significant effort or that a cleaner would do |
| A fine for smoking or a late checkout | Remove | Hosts may not impose fines or penalties; you can give notice of a building, HOA or local government fine in the listing |
| A new sign by the door with an extra rule | Remove | No new rules or requests after booking, including signs in the home |

Airbnb's policy applies to Airbnb reservations booked on or after November 20, 2026. Stays booked earlier keep the rules on the listing when they were booked.
Airbnb's house rules and requests policy says rules and requests must be shown in the designated section of the listing at the time of booking, and that hosts may not add new ones after booking, by message, on signs in the home or in person. Airbnb guest guidelines checker
Paste your guest guidelines, checkout list or welcome book text. The checker sorts each line against Airbnb's policy for reservations booked from November 20, 2026, and suggests wording you can keep. It runs in your browser: nothing is sent or saved.
What StayPerk does here

The rules checker is free and needs no account. It suggests wording; Airbnb's Listing editor has the final say on your listing.
Frequently asked questions
What checkout chores can't I ask for any more?
Tasks that take significant effort or time, or that a cleaner would usually do, such as stripping beds or washing every dish. Light requests shown in your listing before booking, such as gathering used towels, are not ruled out.
Can my guest guide still list guest guidelines?
Yes, if every guideline in it is already in your Airbnb listing and the guide repeats it rather than adding to it.
Does this apply to other booking sites and direct bookings?
No. It is Airbnb's policy for Airbnb reservations. Guests who book on another site or direct follow that site's terms and yours, so state your guidelines before they book there too.
What about bookings made before November 20, 2026?
Airbnb's policy applies to reservations booked on or after November 20, 2026. Earlier bookings keep the rules that were on the listing when the guest booked.
