Build and save a guest manual before publishing

Use the full manual editor as a guest, save progress in this browser, and decide when the manual is ready to publish.

What this is

Start with a blank manual opens the real StayPerk editor in guest-building mode. Opening /create-manual does not create a saved server draft. StayPerk begins secure private-draft autosave when you make the first real change, without publishing anything or requiring an account.

When to use it

Use this when you want to build, save, and preview a complete guest manual before making it available to guests.

Steps

  1. Open Create manual and choose Start with a blank manual. The guest workspace opens on Properties with the full preview navigation: Dashboard, Properties, Services, Calendar, Bookings, Connections, Inbox, Finances, Referrals, QR codes, Settings, and Help.
  2. In Properties, use the manual heading at the top of the editor, then enter Property name and Property address directly below it. Type at least three characters in Property address and choose a Google suggestion. Your first changed property field starts the private server draft before the field is saved. StayPerk fills the street, unit, city, province or state, postal code, country, and map coordinates; manual address entry remains available if you do not choose a suggestion. Open the manual navigation to edit the same arrival, Wi-Fi, directions, parking, rooms, amenities, stay information, rules, checkout, safety, local tips, custom sections, layout, privacy, and ordering controls available in the signed-in editor.
  3. Add, preview, title, attach, detach, reorder, or delete photos and videos from the editor media libraries. A guest draft supports up to 24 photos at 15 MB each and 8 videos at 150 MB each.
  4. Use Previews for the Public and Private app manual. Use PDF manuals for any of 16 Welcome Book and sign designs using current public details, without leaving the editor.
  5. Open Dashboard to review saved progress, sections successfully saved without validation errors, rooms, amenities, photos, and the current 8-video guest limit, then choose Continue editing the manual to return to Properties.
  6. Open Dashboard, Services, Calendar, Bookings, Connections, Inbox, Finances, Referrals, Settings, or Help to explore the matching workspace with example data. These previews do not load or change any customer account data.
  7. When an account preview opens, drag the Make this workspace yours prompt by its header if it covers something you want to inspect. Choose Keep exploring or the close button to minimize it, then select the minimized Publish Manual control to open it again. Choose Publish Manual when you are ready.
  8. Open QR codes to use the same full-width QR Studio available in the app without an account. Enter any link or text, optionally add a logo, customize the QR design, and download it as PNG, SVG, or PDF. In the anonymous manual editor, Links and QR codes is separate: permanent manual share links, manual QR codes, and the 4-digit access code unlock only after the manual belongs to an account.
  9. Choose Save manual in the editor header whenever you want to save the anonymous draft immediately in this browser. Saving does not open an account prompt and does not publish the manual.
  10. Choose Publish Manual next to Save manual, from the guest banner, or from an account-preview prompt. You can also select a locked Download PDF, Print, Publish, Duplicate, or permanent QR action. The publish prompt explains that the draft stays private until you explicitly publish; choose Keep building or Continue to publish. Other locked actions use Continue to download, Continue to print, Continue to duplicate, or Continue to create QR so the next step matches the result you chose.
  11. On Save your guest manual, choose where the manual belongs on the same page: Host workspace for your own property, or Property manager workspace when you manage properties for owners or clients. Then choose Continue with Google, Continue with email, or Already use StayPerk? Sign in.
  12. The manual-builder email flow asks for one password and includes Show or Hide so you can check it before continuing. Google opens a secure account chooser and always requires confirmation. Verify your email when prompted, and the verified session resumes the manual transfer.
  13. To permanently remove guest work instead, choose Delete, confirm the warning, and StayPerk deletes the anonymous browser and server draft plus its temporary photos and videos without opening an account prompt.
  14. If StayPerk finds a similar property, choose Open existing property or Create as another property. Otherwise, every section, order, layout choice, photo, and video is claimed into the authenticated property and the full editor opens automatically.

What to expect

  • The Building as guest banner stays visible. A first changed property field, editor save, or media change creates the private server draft before that action continues; later edits autosave to it. Account handoff also creates the draft when there is real work to transfer. An untouched preview goes directly to account creation without creating an empty server record. Reloading or returning with the same browser resumes saved draft work.
  • The private banner can tailor its starting advice to the allowlisted paid-search intent: digital manual, existing-manual conversion, or guest add-ons. Unknown campaign values are ignored. The page records an editor-open event after render, but records builder started only after the first meaningful change in that session.
  • A page view, untouched defaults, account-workspace previews, app previews, and PDF manuals do not create a server draft by themselves. Starting an account from untouched defaults also avoids an empty draft record. An admin therefore sees only guest builders with real work or a transferable handoff.
  • Guest address searches use the server-side Google Places integration. Suggestions begin after three characters, are debounced while you type, and are limited per draft and network address to protect the free editor from automated abuse.
  • Google attribution appears inside the address suggestion menu. The property fields stay aligned when no guidance is needed, and a message appears below the address only when search is unavailable or temporarily limited.
  • Editing, formatting, ordering, media, Save manual, deletion, app previews, and PDF manuals work before signup. Public PDF downloads are free without an account. Cloud saving, publishing, permanent manual links and QR codes, and duplication require the draft to belong to an account; QR Studio downloads remain a separate free tool.
  • Account previews use example data and do not expose another user's information. The movable publishing prompt can be minimized without leaving the preview or changing the guest draft.
  • Choosing Continue to publish never publishes the manual by itself. The draft stays private while the secure handoff moves existing work into the selected workspace, and publication still requires an explicit publish action. If the first secure save is temporarily unavailable, StayPerk pauses autosave instead of repeatedly changing the save status, keeps the edits open on the current page, and offers Retry autosave. The handoff dialog also offers Create account without draft with an explicit warning that those edits will not move to the account.
  • Deleting anonymous work is different from a locked output action: after confirmation it permanently removes the browser/server draft and temporary media, and it cannot be undone.
  • Inactive drafts are marked abandoned after 72 hours and expire after 30 days. Temporary media for expired, unclaimed drafts is cleaned up automatically.

Common problems

  • If a draft does not resume, confirm you are using the same browser and have not cleared site data or blocked required site storage.
  • If an older guest-builder cookie no longer matches its private server draft, reloading the builder starts a fresh private draft automatically. StayPerk never moves an in-progress save to another draft silently.
  • If address search reports too many searches, wait a few minutes before trying again. You can type and save the address manually while suggestions are temporarily limited or unavailable.
  • A new guest preview says Not saved yet. Saved means both property details and manual changes have been acknowledged by the server. Unsaved remains visible when a write fails; keep the page open and use Retry autosave to retry the property details and manual together. Save section can keep incomplete guest work without publishing it.
  • Opening an empty photo or video library does not require signing in or creating a server draft. Uploading first establishes the private draft. Guest drafts allow 24 photos up to 15 MB each and 8 videos up to 150 MB each; account-owned manual video libraries allow 20 videos up to 250 MB each.
  • Photos in instruction text and media blocks transfer with the claimed manual. Uploading a guest video never publishes the manual. Create early check-in or late checkout add-ons after claiming the manual into your account.
  • If an upload is rejected, the photo or video dialog keeps the error visible. Confirm the file is a supported image or video, is within the displayed size limit, and the draft has not reached its media count limit before retrying.
  • If the secure handoff expired, return to the original browser, open the guest builder, and choose Publish Manual again.
  • If autosave is temporarily paused, keep the page open and choose Retry autosave once. If secure transfer still cannot start, choose Create account without draft only when you are comfortable continuing without moving the edits currently open on that page.
  • If import pauses, finish email verification and return to Save your guest manual; the claim is designed to resume safely without creating duplicate media.
  • If the publishing prompt covers part of an account preview, drag its Make this workspace yours header or choose Keep exploring to minimize it. Select the minimized Publish Manual control to reopen it. Opening another preview expands the prompt again.
